Our story unfolds in a company that prides itself on strict compliance standards. Enter Mizukami Ayaka, the diligent and unwavering member of the internal compliance committee. She takes her job seriously, perhaps too seriously for some. When she spots her colleague Takahashi Yuya engaged in what she deems an inappropriately close conversation with another coworker, Takano Chitose, she doesn’t hesitate. She steps in, pointing out the violation with clinical precision. It’s too close, too personal, and even if there was no ill intent, it looks wrong. That’s the problem, she insists.
Ayaka knows she’s earning resentment, but she’s prepared for it. As part of Yuya’s harassment training, she calls him into the conference room. It’s just the two of them. She lays out his transgressions with cold efficiency, firing off accusations without a hint of doubt. She feels invincible. She is utterly convinced she holds all the power.
Then, Yuya asks a question that shatters her confidence: “Is this harassment?”
Before she can process his challenge, his hand reaches out and grabs her unexpectedly large chest. “And this? Is this harassment too?” he sneers. Ayaka freezes, her mind going blank. This scenario is nowhere in her training manual. He continues, groping every part of her stunned body while she fumbles for a response. Her attempts to resist are clumsy, pathetic. The compliance officer, so sure of her authority, now finds herself paralyzed by the very violation she was meant to prevent.
