Hiroki’s possessiveness creeps up on him outta nowhere, and he ends up hurting Meiko’s feelings. Their connection goes from cozy to ice-cold. Distance settles in, awkward silence everywhere, the whole nine yards. But wait, there’s more. Dude spots Mei-ko walking home with some classmate guy, and his brain just blue-screens—full-on Windows XP error sound. He’s spiraling, blaming himself, basically throwing in the towel like a boxer who forgot his gloves. He’s dragging himself through the mud, blaming his own dumb self, half-ready to wave the white flag and call it a day. But nah, the guy just can’t sit still, his heart’s doing jumping jacks and his feet won’t listen to reason. So he decides to chase after Mei-ko at the summer festival, because apparently “give up” isn’t in his vocabulary.
